Anvil Arabians
Anvil Arabians, home to Alejandro & Ana Vigil and family, is an Arabian breeding farm garnering a collection of profoundly-bred Arabian mares and show horses whose many accomplishments outweigh the farm’s “boutique” size in numbers. Nestled near the beaches of San Diego, California, this farm, its owners, and its horses, represent the passion, love and connection the Arabian horse creates offers to those who know them.
The farm began in 2017 with the purchase of the beautiful, white Arabian mare, Oula Aljassimya. Oula ignited a passion in the Vigil family that has now lead to gathering a small collection of elite Arabian mares, residing at their farm in San Diego, California.
The breeding program and overall Arabian horse experience at Anvil Arabians is one that is best described as “intimate,” not unlike their relationship with the horses they own.
“We enjoy showing and competing with our horses, but we also very much enjoy having the horses here at home and spending time with them. Breeding the mares, seeing the babies born, enjoying the process and connecting with the horses we own…that’s what is important to us.”
Gestüt Amurath
It all began with a childhood dream...
After discovering his love for Arabian horses at Marbach State Stud as a child, Bernd Zimmermann knew he wanted to have these horses in his stable one day.
By a lucky chance, he and his wife Gabriele were able to purchase the Weil-Marbach mare Mahara in the early 90s. With her, the foundation was laid for an Arabian horse stud that has now existed for over 30 years.
In the beginning, the focus was on breeding Weil-Marbach lines. Today the breeding program includes international bloodlines, with the aim of producing a horse that is not just pretty and typey, but also correct and with a solid structure; a complete Arabian horse which can compete successfully in shows, but excels equally as a riding horse and a perfect partner for leisure activities.
Bernd and Gabriele are particularly proud of the fact that they handle almost all aspects of breeding themselves, and all examinations, ultrasounds, inseminations, and births are stress-free because of the close and trusting relationship with their mares.
For Bernd Zimmermann, the stud farm provides a welcome balance to his demanding job as a self-employed civil engineer.
At Amurath Stud, we live and love horses!

Laughing Dog Ranch
At her Laughing Dog Ranch in Ojai, California, Mary Anne Morrison breeds purebred Arabians and Arabian crosses (many of them half Welsh pony), with children and amateurs in mind. The fruits of her labor include her 2019 USEF Leading Breeder of Half-Arabians award, along with countless Sport Horse Championships, open Hunter/Jumper and dressage winners, as well as main ring Arabian titles.
Mary Anne's Welsh Pony stallion, GOLDHILLS LOVE THE BLUES (Gayfields Call The Cops x Gayfields Love Potion No. 9), has sired athletes in both over fences and dressage ponies,” says Mary Anne. "People are not buying show halter ponies, they want steady temperament, movement to die for and sensitivity. Each foal I bring into the world is imprinted and exposed to many, many things. We expect them to be good citizens from birth. We send them out into the world to bring joy to their new owners, which is really what it’s all about. We are committed to the careful breeding of exquisite sport horses and sport ponies since 2007, and we are focused on producing National quality amateur friendly, athletic and a safe equine partners for the competitive rider, from short stirrup to show jumping."
Psynergy Enterprise Development, LLC
A serious breeding operation must look at the long picture. Not just the foals of this season, but what that foal’s offspring will contribute in three or four generations. Psynergy Enterprise Developments LLC is the current program that started 50 years ago for Mike Weinstein with his family’s operation Aries Arabians.
A strong Polish influenced program of both performance and halter, it was the home of Kajora (*Kaborr x *Edjora), dam of *Gazal Al Shaqab who founded a global dynasty. The acquisition and importation of the Russian stallion *Menes founded another dynasty within the Arabian breed. For many, these accomplishments could have been enough. However, more than 30 years later, Michael formed Psynergy Enterprise Developments and acquired *El Nabila B (Kubinec x Elf Layla Walayla B). The sire of *El Nabila B, Kubinec, was a son of Balaton who was by *Menes.
*El Nabila B daughters are now recognized as preeminent show mares and producers. But it is not only the *El Nabila B daughters who excel. Sons such as Titan AS and Atticus ENB continue to influence global show and breeding stock. 50 years of elite breeding is not the past — it drives the future of Psynergy Enterprise Developments as a global breeder of excellence.
Rose City Arabians
My wife fell in love with the idea of acquiring some of the most exquisite Arabian mares in the world as our Rose City foundation breeding stock. We believe the mares represent 60 to 70% of the foal. Therefore, to us, the need for world travel to educate ourselves in person with world renown breeders is paramount. The pedigree, refinement, scope, motion, balance and temperament are everything when choosing a breeding mare. Finding a mare that breeds these attributes on is like finding a needle in a hay stack - and part of the lifestyle and enjoyment.
We have created some unexpected and wonderful friendships with people from all over the world that share this crazy addiction and admiration for the breed. That is probably the most rewarding part of this wonderful lifestyle.
Sharmel Arabians
“If I could sum up my breeding philosophy in a few words, it is that I am committed to breeding the versatile Arabian,” says Sharon Redman of Sharmel Arabians, Weatherford, Texas. “Sharmel Arabians is a relatively young program, with my first foal born in 2009. She was a flashy chestnut filly out of an MFA Hullabaloo daughter, and sired by Adoniis. In the ribbons as a halter baby, and a multi-champion at sport horse in-hand, she is now a successful dressage horse and best friend to her person.
“I have not wavered in my commitment, and my horses have been successful in halter, performance, sport horse and endurance competition.
“The culmination of my program is my young stallion Sentebale SA (Bellagio RCA x Kareena RCA). Beautiful and athletic, with a great work ethic, this black-bay boy has the potential to bring the disciplines together in one package.
“A champion in the halter ring, he is under saddle and shows a natural talent for western pleasure. In addition, we are learning about competition in Sport Horse disciplines, and participating in our first Sport Horse Nationals. Participation across disciplines has enriched the lives of my horses and of myself as well.”
