Whispers From the Tent
Dr. Nagel implores us to never forget where this horse came from…
All those who embark seriously into the breeding and study of Arabian horses and particularly those involved in a continuous breeding program, will soon be surprised at the abundance of information available to them and which will probably make them curious and wishing to seek answers. A serious student, in a figurative sense, must start with the Arabians’ history from the very beginning, which, according to informed opinions has its origin in the Nejd region of Saudi Arabia. One should never forget where this horse has come from and the environment in which it was forged. This is the oldest of all horse breeds and carries with it a very long history, and, in consequence, this history applies to every single horse today to come to a satisfactory understanding one has to sharpen one’s view which means to learn to recognize differences in shapes and features and types not only statically but also to concentrate on motions and dynamics which incidentally adds to the excitement and vitality of this subject and informed breeder has to develop an intuition for this type of horse which makes him one of a very sensitive community and one of a small breeding elite.
